Did you know that Canada has more than 512 romance authors? I do, thanks to the CanLit Romance Authors of Canada Index.

Lovingly maintained by romance reader Catherine, the CanLit Romance website is an index and blog celebrating romance novels written by Canadians and authors living in Canada. You can find Catherine on Instagram @canlitromance.

After checking in with Catherine, I decided to create a companion resource to the index—a list of all the Romance Authors of Canada on Goodreads. This list allows you to see a photo, number of books published and a popular book title for each author (see screenshot below for a preview). I also like this format because it enabled me to gather some data about the romance authors of Canada!

Based on data from the CanLit Romance Author Index and my companion list on Goodreads, I was able to calculate that:

• 512 romance authors of Canada have been identified on the index

• Collectively, these authors have published 16,273 works (not all romance, many write in multiple genres) with a total of:

  • 19.3 million ratings

  • 2 million reviews

  • 523,000 followers

On Goodreads, romance authors of Canada have the following averages:

• Average # ratings: 38,327
